  • What Kind of Pictures Do We Need?

We want pictures of California, especially Kern county, plants - preferably natives, but it is also important to show what the invasives look like. It would be nice to have both wild and cultivated specimens. As we have Plant Lists featured on another part of this website, pictures taken of the actual plants in these areas would be great! Don't limit yourself to portraits of flowers, it is nice sometimes to see the whole plant. Plants don't even have to be in flower and a good landscape shot will help show habitat for the area. [Please limit your pictures of kids/grandkids to those that actually include a native plant as well]

What I would appreciate you do when you submit a photo:
  • Crop, Brighten, Sharpen, and otherwise enhance it so that the picture best conveys your subject.
  • Include the photographer's name, the date the picture was taken, and the place it was taken.
  • Include the name of the subject -- Genus species would be nice
  • Include a caption if you would like one.
  • Reduce the size to 240 pixels wide (exceptions can be made for landscape pictures that are wide but not very tall)

  • You don't need to do any of the things listed above to have your photo on the webpage.

  • I will do all those things for you if you want (of course I will charge double, but since I'm doing this whole bit for free, it's still a great deal)
  • If you have slides, negatives, or prints that need to be scanned I might be able to help with that as well
